The story
Three chapters, one rule: modernize without losing what works.
The IBM i years
JK spent three decades inside IBM i and AS/400 systems: RPG and CL that ran real businesses, from orders and inventory to invoices and payroll, for companies that could not afford a bad night. It teaches one lesson above all others. The system that runs the business deserves respect, not a rewrite fantasy.
Python, cloud and models
He extended that work into Python, cloud infrastructure and machine learning: converting what needed converting, leaving alone what did not, and mentoring in-house teams into the modern stacks so the knowledge stayed where it belonged.
Working agents
Then the tools changed. JK started building AI agents to run his own company: its infrastructure, its security, its website, its lead pipeline. They did real work, as long as a human set the rules and stayed accountable. That is what Solanko sells today.
We don't just convert. We evolve.
